Just a friendly reminder for new student-athletes who have not previously had a swim test to please be at the Potomac Club Indoor Pool at 4:45PM today, February 27th. This is a joint event for both boys and girls. VASRA, which guides our club, requires us to enusre that each member of our crew team has passed a swimming examination before taking part in any rowing related water activity, competition, or practice. Student-athletes don’t need to be fast swimmers, but they need to demonstrate basic swimming skills. The Crew Board of Directors personnel will be adminstratoring the tests.
Here’s what to expect during the test:
- Swim 100m (2 laps) not timed
- Tread water for 2 minutes without resting
Wear normal clothing like shorts and a t-shirt, similar to what you would on a boat. No pant or sweatpant, please.
The Potomac Club is located at 43459 Riverpoint Dr, Lansdowne, VA 20176. Current Lansdowne residents, ensure you have your Potomac Club card to check-in at the Front Desk. If you are not a current resident of Lansdowne, tell the Front Desk Personnel that you are there for the “Riverside Crew Team Swim Test” at check-in to the facility and they will direct you where to go.
