Walter Mess Regatta, Fairfax Station, VA – March 29, 2025

We had beautiful weather for Riverside Crew’s first official 2025 regatta at Sandy Run Regional Park hosted by the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association (VASRA). The event took place on the Occoquan River and drew teams from across the region. Nervous energy was felt by Novice and Experienced athletes alike. Each and every boat gave it their all. “It was a thrill to be back on the water,” said Senior Sean McAvoy. Sincere thanks to all the volunteer, family members and friends who made the long drive to cheer us on. Row-Side!

Darrell Winslow Regatta, Fairfax Station, VA – April 5, 2025

The team continued to perform at the Darrell Winslow Regatta. This was a difficult regatta for us as a lot of the team was out sick or recovering from the flu. Boats had to be scratched and other lineups were changed. Our W-FR-8+ leveled up to row in the Jr-8+ heat. We did, however, had 2 boats advance to finals. Congratulations to everyone!

Ted Phoenix Regatta, Fairfax Station, VA – April 12, 2025

Weather was not our friend this Saturday as conditions further deteriorated throughout the day. Novice races immediately following lunch were cancelled as the wind picked up speed at the starting line. Our M-2-8+, however, advanced to finals. Regardless of the conditions, family members were out in full force ringing their cowbells and cheering on Riverside. Go Riverside Go!

Al Urquia Regatta, Fairfax Station, VA – April 26, 2025

The Riverside Crew Team had an impressive showing at the Al Urquia Regatta, securing two first-place wins and several third-place wins before the event was interrupted. Unfortunately, due to lightning and the threat of a severe storm, the remainder of the regatta was cancelled after the break. Despite the abrupt end, the team’s performance in the races that did occur was commendable. Their victories highlight their skill and dedication, leaving a strong impression on the competition.
