Our Story

Riverside Crew was born from grit, teamwork, and a whole lot of heart. On November 1, 2019, a small group of determined parents came together with one bold goal: to launch a crew team at Riverside High School and get shells on the water by spring. The odds weren’t in our favor. Starting a rowing program from scratch in just three months was considered impossible. We had no boats, no coaches, no equipment, no rowers, and no place to row. To top it off, crew is a club varsity sport, meaning we receive no financial support from the Riverside High School nor Loudoun County Public Schools. Every dollar comes from a parent-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Just three months later, we had five shells, four dedicated coaches, two launches, 25 rowers, four toolboxes, and a patch of dirt along the Potomac to call our own. Our coaches and their families poured in hundreds of hours and nearly $20,000 to help get the program off the ground.

Four years later, Riverside Crew team has achieved four gold, three silver and one bronze in multiple racing classes at Virginia State Championships and advanced to SRAA National Championships ranking top ten for Men’s Junior Eight.

Please donate and share with friends and family. Every donation helps us maintain equipment, support our athletes, and keep this program thriving. With your help, we can continue to give students the opportunity to row, compete, and grow on and off the water.
